After the hunter shot the bear, the animal killed the 62-year-old man by crushing his head.
The unidentified hunter, according to Interfax news agency, is thought to have shot and wounded the bear in the Russian district of Tulun of the Irkutsk region from a platform in a tree.
The hunter descended from the tree believing the brown bear to be dead only to be mauled and killed by the animal.
The bear quickly passed away.
The man’s body is seen in graphic photos next to the bear’s carcass.
According to Interfax, “the critically wounded bear attacked and murdered a 62-year-old man when he climbed down.”
“The animal’s carcass was discovered 50 meters from the scene of the man’s death.”
