The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on strike for months because the Federal Government owes them money for unmet agreements and underpaid allowances.

Public universities are closed, academic activities are suspended, students are at home, and business activities in the university setting are at a standstill as a result of the strike action.

University of Abuja business owners, dealers, and food vendors have expressed regret over the union’s strike action, which has resulted in low sales due to the absence of students, staff, and the entire university community.

Further, other merchants said that although they had stopped operating since February, their company had thrived, particularly in an academic setting.

They urged the Federal Government to take the situation seriously because the strike action is having a bad impact on both the nation and students at home.
